Shelby, NC – Hurst Jaws of Life is pleased to announce Shaw AFB Fire Department of Shaw Air Force Base, SC as the recipient of the 2008 Green Cross Rescue of the Year Award. After reviewing close to one thousand entries, Shaw AFB Fire Department was chosen as the winner for their entry detailing the use of Hurst Jaws of Life tools in order to save the lives of a mother and child. They will be receiving a custom award commissioned by Hurst and created by Marty Ellenbecker at the Green Cross Reception on April 23, 2009.

“We are happy to recognize Shaw AFB Fire Department for their dedicated efforts in saving lives,” said Aaron Guenther, Hurst Jaws of Life vice president of sales and marketing. “While everyone who receives a Green Cross Award is a hero, these particular rescuers did an outstanding job in the face of adversity and we are proud to present them with this award.”

Since 1973, thousands of firefighters and rescue workers have been awarded the prestigious Green Cross award. The Green Cross award is the ultimate symbol of recognition for those who have used Hurst Jaws of Life products to save lives. To receive a Green Cross award, rescue information detailing how Hurst Jaws of Life tools were used to save or free an entrapped individual must be submitted to Hurst via the official Hurst Jaws of Life Green Cross Registry. The registry can be found on the Hurst Jaws of Life Web site at www.jawsoflife.com.
